What makes a professional wedding photographer?

You’ve waited a lifetime for your wedding day and now that it is on the horizon, you’ll want only the best to capture your big day. Choosing a wedding photographer is one of the most important parts of the planning process. Your day will fly by in the blink of an eye as the bride or groom. You want to make sure you choose a photographer who is going to be able to capture all the moments you want to cherish for years to come. What should you look for when choosing a wedding photographer?

Photography Style

Professional photographers have gone to school to hone their craft and in doing so have learned different styles of photography. If there is a certain style that appeals to you more, you will want to question them on what they can do. Some examples would be; Portraiture- the more posed type of picture, you will be set in poses where the photographer can get the best shots of your face. Candid- these are unscripted photos where you may not have even noticed the photographer took the shot. Fine Art- these type of photos give the photographer license to add his or her own texture, or composition to the photo. Fine art photos are like candid with a twist.

To get a feel for some of the different photography work take a look at the informal approached of Lee Glasgow’s Warwickshire wedding photography where he really brings out the best in the classy venues where he captures his photography. The wedding venues are often providing a great backdrop for the bride and groom to pose in front of.

Knowledge and experience

You may consider for a moment, hiring a friend of yours to take some photos of your wedding day to save some money, but professional photographer will know much more about capturing the shot that will have you smiling for years, than your cousin Stew.

Lighting is the key to any good photo. 90 percent of what makes a photo turn out good or bad is its lighting source. A professional can use the light to make a photo light and airy or moody and sultry.

Composition is the second key to getting a good photo. Professionals can get the right angle, focal point of a photo and set the scene in a way amateurs cannot.

Photographers also have many different cameras at their disposal as well. Whether it is an old fashion film camera or the newest equipment on the market, a professional photographer will know how to use the tools at his disposal to tell the story of your special day the way you want to remember it.

The most important thing is to find the photographer that is going to match your style and direction. Don’t be afraid to interview a few photographers until you find the perfect match for shooting your big day.
